MEET THE AUTHOR:
Colleen Jais, is author of Into the Slipstream: A Guide to Finding Inspiration through Grief, Loss, and Change. For Colleen, life is a study of transition; life itself becoming her resume. An artist living in the real world, Colleen has always worn many hats to fulfill the practical nature of the journey of daily life and all of its evolutions. Experience in life transitions comes through personal experience, and such is the case with Colleen Jais. From moving far away from her native home in Indiana to attend college in Colorado, to living and working in Switzerland, change became second nature early on. Colleen began college in Colorado as a business major, only to finish in Massachusetts with degree in visual design and photography. She then worked as a sports writer and photographer. Colleen married Steve and they had two beautiful girls. Colleen is a writer, an artist, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, business owner, and entrepreneur, whose passage through these transitions is the fabric of her being. They lived in Hyannis Massachusetts, running a successful restaurant together until 2002 when the family relocated to Sarasota Florida to give the girls the opportunity to attend a nationally ranked school for the gifted. Amid the beautiful weather, a very active family life, and exciting career opportunities, tragedy struck in a series of illnesses and death—including her husband losing his battle with cancer. Colleen shows that each ‘change’ along the way is an extension of her ability to assimilate and then access the wisdom born of life experience. This capacity level or the ‘war chest of experience’ has guided Colleen through life from small town girl to a well-traveled, capable soul, ready to guide others through the twists and turns of living their journey. Through her personal struggles with grief and loss, Colleen found her way to healing and hope. In this touching and empowering book, she shares the wisdom and tools that it takes to thrive through life’s transitions and enter THE SLIPSTREAM.
